The Celeste

The Celeste are a vested race made by the Vaenir: a feather-winged people, nearly immortal, whose ancestral home is the deep Lor'Sha'Une. This page records their place in the world; for their appearance, customs, and the rules for playing one, see the Celeste species page.

Position between the two sides

Though the Vaenir made them, the Celeste sided with the Aesir in the Great War, and in the fighting killed many of their own Vaenir makers.

For this the Celeste are hated as traitors by the Vaenir races — the hatred runs deepest among the elves, their siblings in creation — and distrusted by many of the Aesir races on account of their Vaenir heritage. In the present age, to be a Celeste is widely taken to mean one who would turn for aspiration, for coin, or for greed. Because the Reavers hunt every immortal, and a nearly immortal Celeste can be mistaken for a Vaenir, many Celeste learned to keep to the cloak-form and hide.

More than a thousand years ago a portion of the Celeste were driven from the Lor'Sha'Une into exile in the Saudient Mountains, in the Schism at Saudient that followed the banishment of the princess Freyaðri.
